Are you getting your skin wedding ready?
Your wedding day is THE biggest day of your life so far so it’s perfectly natural to want to look radiant and the best version of yourself. I don’t believe we should ever make any drastic changes for our wedding day but we all have those little things we’d love to improve and our wedding is the ideal opportunity to go for it. All eyes on you brideys so feel your most confident and you will shine!
Shaking up your skincare routine and treating yourself to a few facials is a great way to feel wedding ready and get the perfect glow for your photos. I’ve been in your shoes, I’m not someone who invests hundreds in skincare products every month but having clear skin for my wedding was super important. So here I am discussing my top tips for getting your skincare routine ready, all tried and tested by me (as you know I will never recommend anything I haven’t already tried out).
WHERE TO BEGIN?
I went to an AlumierMD skincare specialist…. NuVo Aesthetics based in Renhold, Bedford. Laura is a registered nurse and alongside skincare products also does Botox, and lip fillers. IF you are thinking of getting Botox/ fillers please always use a registered nurse. Very important for your safety.
BESPOKE SKINCARE
I don’t know about you but I get so confused and overwhelmed, brands use clever marketing tactics to lure us in but I’m always skeptical. I HATE to waste money on products that don’t work!
After trying ALUMIER MD products with Nuvo aesthetics, I am converted for life. I no longer listen to marketing ads or spend ages browsing different products. When I went to Nuvo for the first time Laura analysed my skin and helped me find the right products based on my requirements – easy, no fuss, combination skin and I can burn even on cloudy days. I now have a skincare routine fit for me. I started with a cleanser (which I will never ever stop using, hello matte, clear skin!), a retinol serum and a tinted moisturiser with SPF 50. I need it.
These products along with a few peels months before my wedding made my skin feel incredible. I’m lucky that I’ve never suffered with acne but I do get hormonal / stress spots. By the time I got to my wedding and honeymoon I was wearing my tinted moisturiser as a foundation and that is something I would never have done before this. Never!
Laura has a wide selection of Alumier MD products and can tailor to your needs. Whats also great is Alumier have done the research for you and have an extensive range of clinical and cosmeceutical products which you will not find on the High Street or online. A ‘cosmeceutical’ product is one which contains a therapeutic dose of active ingredients in a delivery system which will take the active ingredient INTO the skin, which will have a physical effect on the skin so you will see your skin changing. During the consultation Laura will assess your skin, discuss your current skincare regime and get to know a bit about you and your lifestyle before recommending the right products for you. I would say start a good 6 months before your wedding day but its never too late!
ALUMIER PEELS
What bridey doesn’t want radiant, glowing skin on her wedding day? Laura also offers a range of skin brightening treatments including the popular ProFacial – an advanced facial to deep cleanse pores, remove dull dead skin cells, improve circulation and boost hydration revealing fresher, brighter skin that glows with health.
It is recommended to have a course of 3-6 facials in the run up to your wedding. I had 3! I started in October with the lightest peel as I’ve never done anything like this before and my skin is super sensitive. Laura felt this was best for me. It was just like having a facial and so relaxing, I need to go back.
In January I had my second and this time went for the medium strength peel. I then had a third in March and I got married end of May. Now if you’re like me I had visions of leaving the clinic with a bright red face similar to sunburn. Thats not what happens! You leave with super soft, brighter looking skin. Laura will give you a temporary skin care routine for 14 days, and the products are amazing. I could easily use these all year round, and sometimes do! The recovery balm is to die for.
You do (well I did) get a little light peeling about a week after the peel, it lasts a couple of days. Make-up covers it really well and it’s very small and not that noticeable. Trust me I asked my colleagues, as someone who at the time worked in a ‘Devil wears Prada’ style business I was super paranoid about the peeling but no-one noticed. And my boss would’ve told me if they noticed because being kind wasn’t in their DNA.
Now these don’t come cheap, I managed to get a cheeky friends and family discount but I think they are generally £125 ish per peel.
If you are looking for a more budget friendly skincare option please message me as my friend has started a positive mental attitude skincare brand. I’ve tried and tested the products and they are lush! Gorgeous face masks, peel masks and body scrubs. Each product is under £25 and the packaging is dreamy. Check out Mallows Beauty!
